I don't know how old you guys are, but I turned 30 less than 3 months ago. So I'm not really young anymore, and not a young collector either as I do have previous Numismatics experience. Unfortunately I haven't done much collecting for 12 years, but I kind of made up for a lot of it over the last few months.
I'm part of three groups, one of them is the group run by Gil (thanks btw it's a nice group), and I've noticed that they're pretty clean, you don't see much argument on those groups. And I think I'm approaching my 1 year mark in ancients, 5 overall in collecting.
It's a fun Facebook group, and some of the others. We had some drama about a year ago that was taken care of and it simmered down and has been peaceful ever since. We try our best to keep people from getting ripped off such as some people will try to over-charge for coins by a lot or someone is selling fake coins. Other than that, we pretty much let people do what they like to make it a fun group like here.
It's all good my friend but sometimes I get slightly defensive. I have been criticized before and then that's when I realized it doesn't matter too much, then you go back to fun ancient coin collecting. Then again there are some other people that really like my collection because it's fairly well organized. I am up to 106 rulers out of 205 at 51.7%. If I counted this dual bust Macrinus with Diadumenian from Moesia Inferior, Markianopolis that would make 107 but I'm waiting to get a Diadumenian coin that only has a bust or head portrait.
Long story short, I lost my U.S.A. and modern collection in my 20s due to being irresponsible. I didn't collect for a very long time then 4 years ago I decided to collect again. Within a week I realized that I didn't want to collect US year sets. Then I switched to ancients from then on.
Yup, I am a member of three of them myself. Gotten a bit slower in a few over the years but they remain active. Just a kid. I'm 36
