Is this a lamination error? Will it stop the coin from getting a grade? IMG_2352.JPG

Not sure about lamination - looks more like something fell into the mold and was stamped (pressed for those who remember:D) into the coin surface!

Can't tell by the pic if it is INTO the field or UP on the field

It's definitely into the field (concave)

Maybe a small gas bubble while it was at the mint?

It may be damage. If it is, yes details grade. It also might be a struck thru error. Can we see the entire coin?

That helps. I now think that looks like some minor damage.

It just looks funny for a lam, Sean. Doesn't it look like you're looking down at an island group? Lams don't look like that, with islands next to it. I'll guess Leyte, Philippines.

They'll give it a square grade, as it's a GSA. Is that in an "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" slab, or just "Silver Dollar?"

They might knock it down a grade maybe.

Uncirculated. It's funny, sometimes the "silver dollar" GSAs are the nicest ones.

Looks like it might be a strikethrough? How deep is it? I see soft edges and no displaced metal and I wonder if those could be retained planchet striations I'm seeing inside the area? Very interesting for sure

They will grade it but not worth grading in my opinion.

I wonder if those striations aren't from struck through fabric. Also looks like some of whatever it is, is still attached to the coin.

Possibly a struck through but that line leading to the peeling looks more like PMD, possibly a bad rub/hit to the coin while in bagged transit? Just guessing.

It's struck through something, which won't prevent it from grading, and I don't see any other issues that would prevent it from grading. A peeled lamination has a different look to it, as there are usually planchet impurities that caused the lamination in the first place. If this were a lamination, it would still grade, because it's not very big.
