You don't have a collection? That's a surprise, I thought you had a collection. Apologies, my friend. I do like your write-ups though and the coins.
Happy Anniversary. All this talk about anniversaries & new members certainly got me thinking. I bought my first ancient coin & posted it at CT on February 15, 2010. I just started this thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-the-first-ancient-coin-you-ever-purchased.270666/ where we can all post our first ancient coins.
happy anniversary! i just figured out from the "post your first coin thread" that we started about the same time, this is pretty much my 4th year as well.
atta-boy Daryl ... I remember you starting-up in the good ol daze!! (good times) 4th year anniversary => booze!! (just like all the other anniversaries!!) cheers, coin-bro!! (your OP coin sucks a bit, but you fricken rock, my friend!!) Cheers => here's to many more!!
Well, about time someone is honest about some of my low grade coins. Trust me, it doesn't bother me much. I accept my budget as it is and collect what I can or not collect at all. Two choices for me. And next of all, there are four OP coins posted, not just one. But if you don't like any of them, that's ok too. Thank you very much for the congratulations. We all started in humble beginnings at another forum, having fun and causing good honest mayhem and then finding our way here to this great place. Oh well, I spent my booze money on coins!! lol
I'm about to check that thread out after I finish posting here. It's a great idea to post those first coins. Mine was a gift, soon afterwards I purchased a few more from Ebay. Found VCoins later on. I purchased a few from Bing as well.
One day we'll have 20-30 years under out belts. We can tell the new people. This is how we done it, you young whipper snapper. lol Thanks my friend for the congratulations.
We have had a few people post here that could be expected to have 85 more years in the hobby. Fewer young people collect coins now than did in the 1950's when I started but we have had a few. I don't know if we have any at the moment or not.
There are several communities that have a lot of people. Some that you know of are here, at FORVM and a few other boards. I'm sure you may know some other places that I don't know about. Then there is also the Facebook community ancient coin groups. There are at least 10 times more people there than perhaps all of them put together that I've seen. No joke. The group that I run "Ancientscoins" has over 2000 members. Granted, many of those are also in other groups. There are some young people in there, I haven't seen many kids under 18. Most seem to be 30+ years old.
Ancient coin communities on Facebook? Really? I'm an old fuddy duddy and almost never use Facebook other than to see pictures of my grandson. Really? On Facebook? Well, I'll be.....
Yes, you could be amazed. No pressure my friend but if you're interested in just looking around just to see, I can hook you up. No obligation to take part if you don't want to. Just give me your real name in PM and I'll send you a friend invite and then a group invite. I'm enthusiastic about it. After Rudi Smits the creator of the group passed away, I more of less inherited the group to run, I was drafted but I enjoy it, really. I might mention that they sell coins all over and some really good deals. Of course you have to be careful like anywhere else. We have a trusted seller's list, many who are on VCoins, Ebay and elsewhere. I know many of those VCoins dealers and talk to them often.
Sorry Daryl ... Yah, you know me by now => I was merely ribbing you on the condition of your OP coins (there is no such things as an uncool ancient coin, my friend ... congrats on all of your new additions) ... ummm, how many rulers are you at now?
