I couldn't believe it when I saw the article in Coin World this morning noting that many of the Mint sets from the Denver Mint are grading PL as high as MS68 PL. Now I do collect the mint sets and I did buy a set earlier in the year but I never opened it. Well I did today and Wow to my surprise they looked awesome. The Lincoln cent and the Kennedy both look proof like, as well as the NP quarters.Guess I gotta send these in to NGC It is amazing that it looks like I got lucky. You may be lucky too, check your sets. Has anyone else seen this? You can check out the article here. http://www.coinworld.com/news/us-co...nver-coins-in-2015-uncirculated-mint-set.html
Some of the PLs are showing up on EBay. Not outrageously priced for the most part but figuring out a value now and in the future is rank speculation.
Just yesterday I was noticing when thumbing through my binder of Lincoln cents that the modern dates (about 1990 on) that I grabbed from mint sets looked very similar to the proof examples, especially the fields that are all quite mirrored like proofs. Not much in the way of cameo devices like the proofs, but definitely mirrored fields. From certain angles I could not even tell the difference really.
I kinda saw the same example of better minting with my Lincolns as well. but when I compared the 2015 Lincoln P to the D the difference was significant. The Keneddy certainly PL as well as the Lincoln I'm not sure about the quarters, The dollars might have 1 or 2 good PL but I do believethe Sacagawea We all know the the minting process is much better today than it was in say 1990.
