I was CRHing tonight and when I flipped this coin over it took me a second to figure out what I was looking at..... Pretty neat. I'm guessing grease because everything looks pretty clear so it's not a worn die. Just wanted to share.
Floating roofs can be caused by a number of things, die polishing being the most common. In this case it was caused by die wear, and the fact that the reverse design used from 1969-1972 usually exhibits very weak roof lines.
