What difference does it make? It is just a word. He is not going to change nor are you. By now, I assure you that everyone knows what he means. Most people also use capitol letters and type full sentences. Maybe I should start complaining about your writings. That would make more sense to me than complaining about the definition or use of a word
As I have tried to explain,it was actually the late Jerome Remick who made the first reference to medal-coins in his British Commonwealth coin catalogue in the late 1960's & early 1970's. Aidan.
If a nonsensical word or slang is discussed enough it will make print and if that word is printed enough it is no longer considered a nonsensical word or slang. Now the question is, is my bullion or commeratives worth more now that they are medal-coins.
NOPE, worth less.. because NO BODY knows what a medal-coin is.. so if Aidan is bidding on your Medal-Coin, they he would be the onyl one :loud: :hammer:
This all reminds me of a joke that was repeated a lot in my Junior High School Days: Hey! When they were handing out BRAINS, you thought they had said TRAINS and you hid behind the door. Of course, this joke has been atrributed to a certain Finnigus T. Wake, who included it in a seminal work of early immigrant humor entitled "Stupid jokes we told on the boat over". Copies of this volume were given away free to those crossing the Atlantic. No copies are known to exist as it is well-known that toilet-paper was hard to come by on those long cruises. Fortunately, an obscure professor of flatuence, I.P. Weakly, was able to reconstruct the joke by hanging around Junior High schools during the late 1960's. NOTE: This practice is no longer encouraged by law enforcement officials. Mr. Weakly gained minor and fleeting notoriety in rural Minnesota as a travelling performer who could imitate various body sounds by using only his hand and his armpit. <grin> Ok, I've shared all the knowledge I have. Boy, am I winded now.
you would have better luck complaining about my typing - but now that we know you are Aidans knight in shining armour ....
It would behoove some and some it may not to simply GOOGLE the term using quotation marks around either end of the dastardly two word phrase... Ben
I personally think that he is wrong - in the USA. Did you ever think he might be doing it just to get under you skin. I think he has succeeded. By the way, "armour" is not generally used on this side of the pond. This sounds like 2 six year olds - Am so. Am not. Am so. Am not. Am so. Am not. Am so. Am not. Am so. Am not. Am so. Am not. Hang on,guys. Can you please cut out the insults, otherwise, this thread will be closed by one of the moderators,or you could get yourselves banned? We're here to talk about numismatics, not argue with each other! Aidan.
...Self Edited...Self Moderated... Aiden, I appreciate your extensive knowledge, and you have a lot to offer the CoinTalk forum. I do hope you can just agree to disagree, and lets move on to a subject of real numismatic value. DAK
Dak,I'm not the one causing trouble here. That claim about me causing all the contention & uproar is absolutely a load of rubbish - absolutely without foundation! So cool it,or else one of the moderators will lock this thread! These petty arguments will get you absolutely nowhere. Aidan.
Aidan is right, this is not the place for insults the section for that is the politcal forum. Now one person may feel the proper definition is medal coin and another might feel it is coin medal no reason to agrue.
I can accept the term medal-coin, but I think most likely I will continue to use NCLT for these not really coins, not really medals things.
