I'm not a good photographer and the lighting needs to be better, but thought I'd share this anyway. Thoughts?
[QUOTE="manny9655, post: 22651221, member: Thoughts? @manny9655 You would get better results if you removed the coin from the 2 X 2 when you take a photo. Also there is a "FREE" program called PhotoScape that you can use to crop photo also.
Very nice looking coin and I agree with the Fine grade. Having said that I think it would be in your best interest if you took some pliers and flattened those staples so as not to scratch the coin.
Pretty sure it has been cleaned. (But all old silver has been cleaned.) When the coin is very worn and still shiny, it's been harshly cleaned. But I could be wrong as I usually am, and it could just be the lighting. F may be correct, but why are they selling an F coin at G-04 prices? A true F is $100.
Jim Long often has these end of the series dates in V.F. at $80.00. Guess it depends on the dealer. The guides do not always reflect the market.
I too thought it might have been cleaned. But I wasn't quite certain of that. I know that a true Fine is $100 to $125, but I didn't want to pass it up. I don't have any other bust halves, this is my first one!
@manny9655 Note he said « now » and meant it :-D …if you don’t have a book, start here: http://maibockaddict.com/1829-capped-bust-half-dollar-t-i-alignments.shtml
If you have problems with the pick-up points on your worn coin here is the same die marriage in better shape. Truth in advertising blurb...No longer my coin.
