The owner of Lafitte Coin Co. in New Orleans keeps complaining on Facebook about how Heritage Auctions has cheated him out of over $1,000,000. Does anyone know anything about this?

Haven't heard about it; haven't checked any legal websites either. So, don't know but he needs to be careful about what he says unless he has ABSOLUTE proof. There are laws against libel and slander.

Please check the "General Discussion" forum. A CT member from that same area of the country is making a similar claim. They might be related.

He's already wrecked any chances he has in court by discussing the details so publicly, and in fact set himself up for a libel countersuit if every single word he wrote isn't factually correct. Further, he has exposed Coin Talk to potential liability for hosting his words, although Peter has an easy legal out if it comes to it. At this point, I'm hoping he's incorrect because he's hurt his chances very badly with all this.

And there's no way on Earth I'll believe Heritage risked their reputation over what amounts to 0.12% of their yearly business, or worked so hard for so long to screw one individual. An extra $Million barely moves their P&L needle.

Everyone should know that I have a substantial Law Suite against Heritage for many reasons, one selling and buying coin I had in storage without my approval or negotiations.
Didn't up grade coins as promise with PCGS and Cac, until the day after they bought them or sold to friends and then sold the coins keeping profits. hundreds of coins.
Many of the coins where in outstanding set recently sold on i.e. set tens,to hot shot credibly collectors let them use their names for coning confidence. 3 years and haven't call or wrote. The four owners I dealt with. They lied, cheat and terrorized me. No I have a question why does everyone love ha. and come to their defense? Please explain. I lost millions, another in new orleans settled for 28,000,000. Google search is full of judgements. So why are they on board of pcgs, ana and other. Im in all registry s . they do everything to hurt me. They sold off my best coins out of first place reg. I have a contingency law firm,
paul m for expert, and Levy consulting. I keep every email
and some tapes. They have been ruin, lied and cheated and Ill prove it. 'so folk caution is due. I have 2 great year s with them and the time was right they struck. after ten million in perfect purchases. Im not the first check out Google on the con artist. someone please answer my question why will people hate me for suing and saying this
and love ha. they aren't exactly the robin hood type

I don't have a side in this. You should talk with your lawyer about posting stuff like this on an open forum. I'm sure you had a contract and it seems you have a lawyer. Let them deal with it. That's the only way you will ever bring an end to all of this.

I'm not necessarily standing against you here; it's just difficult to believe that an operation so large would jeopardize their business over such a relatively small sum (to them). If they did, they deserve everything you can do to them in court, and I will pass out the pitchforks.

My main point is worry that you're jeopardizing your case by discussing it in such detail online. Every word you type here is evidence in court.

I don't know how that could be libel or slander. Gibberish, yes. Hope your lawyer can write.

That's kind of my point; any verbiage which doesn't follow strict legal precedent is subject to interpretation in court and you can't afford to give a lawyer a chance to spin something.

Please be careful Hugh, I don't think anyone on this site is against you, it is just that no one here has had such negative experiences with ha.

You could really jeopardize your case by discussing here. I would refrain from making any further comments about it. No one is against you but we would hate to see anything bad happen to you because of comments you made to your friends and fellow coin collectors. We wish you only the best.
