I really liked the skin on this one..nice color ...an R 2 but a good size grade price jump .
What would you grade? Thanks in advance. 20230108_135554.jpg 20230108_135631.jpg

This coin is beautiful. I'm sitting here typing hoping you love yor coin as much as I love your coin. AU 58? I think the reverse is a better than the observe for grading purposes.

I'll go with 53 but the old cleaning may hold it back from a straight grade. It has lost most of it's luster.

XF details, cleaned. Nice coin all in all!

I agree. XF. Not sure if it is details. Maybe once it gets some darkening, it will be more acceptable but until then I think it hasn't retoned enough yet.
Also has not retained enough luster for AU. Very nice coin, a solid representation of the type

I could be wrong though. I thought the raw half you sent me would have more hairlines but upon opening it, was pleasantly surprised.

So, maybe it's the image. I am generally confident with the XF grade though.

Except for a few nicks and being cleaned I am at a low AU. Nice coin.

Im in the high xf low au it has a nice strike , the price jumps quite a bit...for what I have in it im quite pleased. Evan yes digital photos are at times a double edge sword....one shows everything..the next has artifacts that one isnt 100% sure of what your seeing.

I believe it probably looks better in hand. Thanks for sharing it

I have an 1833 and its dark and the detail is au or better however ...right in front of her eyes 3 very old short scratches. But I love the coin .... when I picture a CBH this one is the poster child. LoL

Agreed, this one is very attractive, both for its lack of wear and the fact its a CBH!

Nice coin but I'm far from an expert with this series.
My thought XF as a net straight grade.

This one I knew was definitely AU...details...a good teaching aid as I wanted to see if anyone caught the "J" on her clasp? Definitely a clue to grade and a nice strike. Even in detail grade I knew she had promise...showing a sweet strike she has.... 20230108_135554.jpg

Betcha some never knew about the J ;)
