Here's the backside

 

It looks like copper to me. What does it weigh and does it stick to a magnet?

3.21 grams. It barely sticks to a magnet

It's either plated or counterfeit. If it were a steel cent, it should weigh 2.8 grams as opposed to a copper cent that should weigh 3.11 grams.

 

I figured as much. Found it in a bankroll

 

Fun find anyway. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

people would also coat these with mercury.

 

look at that picture, you can see the copper. Somebody plated it with zinc, I think.
