Do you think this nickel would grade PR-01 and what would it be worth? I looked at the pop reports and NGC (I think) hasn't graded any Jeff nickels PR-01 and PCGS has only graded 2 PR-01. Here are the photos.

Note: For some reason the photos aren't uploading off my phone. I'll try uploading they when I get home.

Why what? Why grade it coin? Well it would be a unique coins, and that doesn't make it valuable but it would definitely be a cool coin to own.

It's call a Low Ball Set. Believe it or not, many coins are difficult to impossible to find in low grades without having been cleaned or damaged.

Sorry but I'm having difficulty in understanding why anyone would paid to have a common coin graded this low. If you want a low ball set, plug a hole in a Whitman's Album. Maybe it's because I go for the highest grade I can afford. It's a better investment. I just don't get it and I probably never will.

I agree on how to go about putting a set together...why spend the money for someone to tell you you have a coin which almost can't be distinguished.

    On this matter however...
I don't always want the highest grade. Its not an investment for me, its a collection that contains "finger prints" of history. Like I said above, I have a 1940's nickel that is quite worn and I love looking at it because it tells a story...think of the hands it was in, the places it went...its very likely it could have been in a serviceman's pocket during WWII...On modern stuff I like higher grades, and for my Washignton Quarter collection I like higher grades, but on my other sets (so far a Type and V Nickel set) I want worn pieces...VF-XF please!

Lowballing is a "thing" with a couple issues, but Jeffersons are not one of those issues.

Oh I have my lower (circulated) sets for the same reason. I'll plug a hole for the fun and enjoyment any day but to spend good hard earned money on getting a grade on a nickel that's worth a nickel, that I don't get.

I still say my circulated folders that I've put together from change have provided the most fun and pride in the collection.

I wondered the same, but think (hope?) he misinterpreted PR as meaning poor. If not, I haven't a clue...

You own it now so isn't that cool enough? You also won't have any trouble convincing others it is a bottom feeder on the grading scale, without getting it graded. You could take the cash you are going to waste and buy different worn coins that are just as bad, out of the junk bins from all sorts of dealers. Then you would have all kinds of unique coins. Just a suggestion. :>) We even have a recommendation, from a fellow member, on how you can used a rock tumbler on proofs to get your desired effect. :>(

    No, it isn't a PO-1.

And I really don't understand the people that collect these. At all.
