Most polished coin I've EVER seen

I've seen some pretty nicely polished Morgans. This coin beats all of them. It's a war nickel.

That my friend is the rare 1945 P Smoothie variety feels like Butter....

Could have been treated with mercury.

 

I would grade it PF15 Cameo.

Here's one I spotted on ebay--what a shiny "BU" IHC

 

Lol wow improperly annealed and then polished

 

Part of me laughs at these. The other part wants to slap whoever defaced these coins.

 

I think it's one of those very rare weakly struck war production proof coins. The large P on the reverse stands for Proof. Probably would grade a PCGS 70

 

Did they list this as BU? Nobody was suppose to notice it is XF details with only two diamonds?

Well, it used the Shield Nickel to protect itself.

 

Because we are on topic, why does polishing coins munch up the value? Do you destroy a piece of it, like the thin top layer, etc.?
