Finding a coin club

Figures, they meet on Tuesdays, which is my long day at work (12 hours) and I don't get home until 8 as it is. That, plus the fact that it's about 35 minutes away, down 128.

I have been a collector for nearly 50 years, and I have been approached to join a major Australian coin society on many occasions. I am a relatively well known collector in Sydney.
I have never joined until recently, because my wife and family always came first.

Now, my wife has died, and my kids have grown up, and are making their own lives.
This leaves me lots of time to put into an active membership in the coin society.
The club rooms are 1 1/2 hours travel away on fast, safe and efficient public transport, but as a retiree, the full fare return is only $2.50. Don't have to worry about night driving or find parking.

Good nite out amongst blokes I have known for decades, who share my numismatic interests, and a quiet meal with them before the meeting.

 

The ANA site only lists clubs that have paid for a ANA Club membership. There are many, many more clubs out there. In Michigan you can look for local clubs here... http://www.michigancoinclub.org/localclubs.html

 

The links listed above did not work...Does anyone have an updated listing or know of a place I could find a coin club? I just recently moved to the St. Louis, Missouri area and would love to find a club. I am relatively new and inexperienced but find coin collecting fascinating! Thanks for the help!

How can I find clubs in arkanasas

 

Not sure if you have found anything yet. When I was looking for a club around my area, I just googled Coin Club and then my area and a few popped up. If you use the link at the beginning, it shows you the list of ANA membership clubs that are local to your area. I searched Arkansas and got the following (unless you live in a town called arkanasas like you have it spelled).....

How is it going? And what did you have to do to get it up and running? I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

 

I'm in S.E. Michigan and can't seem to find any clubs either, I need people to talk and show coins with!!

 

I found our local club when I went to a coin show. Lot's of interesting areas of collecting and expertise.

 

Don't be a hermit when you go to the meetings. Try and speak to everyone that you can. I was amazed at the information that the other members gladly shared with me. After all, it is what a club like that is for. People who enjoy coins and can share with each other in it!

 

Recently joined one in my area and found it to be quite boring. Bunch of older gentlemen simply getting together for the supposed purpose of coin collecting but winds up becoming a social coffee house with people bragging to each other about who has the the best stuff. Useless to me.

 

You can always try to change the atmosphere and suggest something new. I really lucked out with my club. Nice people, different things going on and the older generation is contributing to the younger generation and visa versa. Really a nice situation. I love it! I wish you the best!
