Another new one from Friday's show is the Class C follis as usual overstruck on a Class B. The undertype shows at obverse right as part of the larger halo. Its main appeal is that I did not has a Class C coin. I guess this is another set that this 'non set oriented' collector is trying to fill. I have trouble passing on low price anonymous coins that show eyes (however weak).

Very nice Class C-type coin. I have had trouble getting my Class C's delivered to me :( Lost two already in the mail and still don't have one in my collection. The packages were insured, but it is always difficult to find replacements. Here are my lost boys:

Byzantine Empire: Anonymous Class C Follis, Attributed to Michael IV (Sear-1825)

Obv: EMMA NOVHL around, IC-XC to right and left of Christ, with nimbate cross behind head, three-quarter length figure standing, raising right hand, holding book of gospels in left
Rev: IC-XC/NI-KA in the angles of a jeweled cross with dot at each end

I can see why you liked that coin. The overstriking devices are crisp, the undertype shows through nicely in a few places, and the deposits give it pleasing color. Very nice!

Very cool addition, Mentor ... I don't have an example of that type

=> since you told me/us to always grab the examples that have facial features, I've pulled back and been waiting for the sweet High School year-book examples!!

    ;)

... sadly, as you know, it is very difficult to find examples with full faces for bargain prices (again, that's a great OP score)
