    AE21, 5.14g, 9h; 1st-century BC
    Obv.: Laureate head of Zeus right, scepter behind
    Rev.: TEP-MHΣ/ΣE-ΩN; winged thunderbolt; bee countermark
    Reference: BMC 277, 9 (Pisidia). SNG von Aulock 4455.
    Notes: ex-Dr. Florian Heymann.

    Beautiful counterstamp - not so lovely coin (kinda reminds me of many of my coins). I would have bought it for the bee and nothing else.

    The coin is pretty worn and unfortunately someone over-cleaned it, but it's one of the clearest bee marks I've seen. Obviously, without the mark, most of us would pass on the coin. The state of wear on this coin is what makes me believe the Romans sometimes re-monetized older autonomous Greek issues, not just their own provincial issues. The countermark looks exactly like the type of bee cataloged on provincials by Howgego, as opposed to the bee marks of Ephesos.
