No, not unusual because it closes tonight. It's unusual because I don't EVER recall being this interested in a coin graded AG-03. But it's not mine yet.
Just checked. It's going to be tight. 7½ hours to go and the bidding has reached VERY close to my max.
Good luck. I lost 8 coins during the live auction in the Long Beach Heritage auction. I have 6 in the current auction and expect to loose all 6 again. Each is at my max bid and I don't want to submit bids that exceed past auction results by more then $100.
Good luck to both of you! I have some interest tonight and the next couple days. I also had slight interest in some coins that closed last night. I don't think I'll win any either.
That may be and the main reason I cap my bids at the prices realized in past auctions (including Stacks, Ebay, etc).
I got the bidding time wrong. Apparently the auction started at 5PM Eastern, not the lot I'm interested in at that time. Still 80-90 lots to go. This will be the lowest graded coin (AG-03) I've got for that set. Next lowest is a VG-10. But the 1873-CC quarter will be another very low grade.
RATS. I got outbid. Winner got it for one increment over my max. Well, I'll try again. I'm in tomorrow night on a different "Arrows at Date" coin.
Tonight there will be another "Arrows at Date" coin I've already bid my max on. After last night's action I'll try to not get as excited about this coin. But I still want it. I haven't checked (yet) to see how the early bidding has gone so I don't know how should feel. This coin is graded AU-58 which often tends to attract a lot of interest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A quick check shows that I've got more wiggle room on this lot. Current bid is at $800 and my max is $1200.
Good luck. I lost one last night and refuse to go to the next bid. I still have 5 left taking bids over the next few days.
I was bidding on a 3cs Wednesday on Heritage, a 64PL. Normally its a few hundred dollars in UNC, so I bid a couple grand.... sold for $7k....
Nope, didn't win again. Disappointing. But I'm not surprised that an AU-58 coin got a lot of interest. Bill Fivaz thinks that's the way to go. Next stop, the Whitman show in Baltimore on Friday, 6 Nov. And I've got my eye on a couple coins in the Stack's auction on 10 Nov.
Too bad. I just lost another one before the live auction and figure the other will exceed my max during the live auction. Then 2 more in a day or two. I also plan to watch the Stack's auction and have a buyer going to the Baltimore show.
WHOA !!! I almost made a BIG goof. I was doing a sanity check on my Stack's account to be sure I was ready for the Internet-only auctions on 10 Nov. Making sure the account info was correct (I made one of those errors recently). I checked two items (only one of which I wanted) I was tracking. Right date. Right mm. WRONG face value (oops). Already have the coin. That would have been a pricey mistake.
