Have you thought of Kointains ? It's like the coin has nothing on it and would look great in a wood case . Have you thought about what kind of wood ?
This isn't helping. You are merely stating your opinion. Said fantasy coins are legal-- if you feel so strongly, file suit and you will lose in court.
Yeah, I may go that route. The frame will be Cherry-- I have some nice pieces in my garage to build it.
Morgan, It sounds like you are going to make a gorgeous tribute to the memory of Dan's father and I commend you on your effort .. The cherry wood frame against the brilliant silver finish should make the coins pop ... What's sad is that even in a thread meant to serve as a lasting tribute and having nothing to do with DC over strikes, that one particular hater still found the time to bring negativity to this place.. Good luck with your project and please post pics of your final piece ..
Yeah, I agree completely. I posted the coins, not only for my strong numismatic interest in Daniel Carr's work, but also as a tribute to his dad's memory. There is a time and place for the debates over one's opinion of the work, and this is neither the time nor place. At any rate, if you are reading this, Dan--I LOVE THESE tokens. They are extremely artistic, and a high point of your work!!! As a "big silver" coin collector, I will proudly have them in my collection, and once again, express sympathy over the loss of your dad, a great man.
Ok, if this thread goes the way of bashing then whoever does is gonna have a fight with me. There is a time and place for that and this obviously ain't it. A little couth goes a long way
Exactly---there is a time and a place. Frankly, I am shocked that someone would post bashing when this was intended as a positive thread to honor someone who has contributed greatly to the hobby. I wanted to display his latest work that I just bought, as I think it to be as nice as ANY contemporary coin design out, and certainly more interesting than the US Mint issues. It was also to honor the man's father, who made great contributions for our country, and should be honored. To get into negatives at a time like that is really a cheap shot--if I had the power to delete such comments, I would. Daniel Carr, we all are in your corner now, in your time of grief.
I just spent some time on Mr. Carr's website. I never realized his work was as extensive as it is. Artistic talent like that is a rare commodity.
Posted something, decided better. Disregard. Sorry if I offended. Nowhere in the OP is any of the stuff about his father mentioned. I'm not an asshole (or at least, I don't try to be).
