Greetings everyone, one of my fellow buddies and coin collector found this while metal detecting. As a new person to collecting, I have very limited knowledge on foreign coins. Can anyone help him/me? The subject coin is 0.2 grams and 3/8" wide.

Might be a cash coin because of the square hole and the Chinese characters.

I suspect it's a charm, because the symbols on one side don't appear on cash coins. Wish I could help with the other characters--if they are legible.

I don't think it's even of Chinese origin. I'd suspect a vintage "magic" coin. Things like this were used by magicians and often have illegible doodles meant to resemble foreign languages. Most english speakers wouldn't really know the difference. The first side is based on a Chinese coin, but the second is just pure imagination.

3/8" and 0.2g is also a good bit smaller and lighter than most real coins.

I would say, it is a modern jetton.
