For All You LRB Experts

I found this coin sitting on one of my bookshelves tonight and have no idea where it came from or how it got there. It's most likely an unattributed gift from a dealer. LRBs are not my area of expertise, so I'd appreciate any help in nailing this one down.

I assume this is Constantine II?

I can attempt better pictures if need be.

Valentinian I, SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE type, Victory advancing left, holding wreath. Looks like Siscia mint.

It's a very common coin, easily available in good grades for very little outlay. I've received similar "gifts" from dealers, and my reaction is always, "Uh...gee, thanks."

 

LOL! Yes, I think that is how this one ended up forgotten on a bookshelf. I don't have any references that go past the 2nd century and rightly presumed someone here would come to my rescue.

Reference: RIC IX Constantinople 21(a) (p. 215), mint mark 1, scarce.

 

That first coin is a beauty. Sharp and in decent style.

As for my example, it's going back to the bookshelf - this time in a flip and attributed.

Thankfully so! My cat Hershey and I were really at a loss.

 

He's beautiful. He's going to swipe that coin off the table any moment. I can see it in his eyes.

 

Hershey does not look amused.

 

Hershey wasn't amused at all. John was right, he wanted to swipe that coin across the room and was fairly vexed at not being able to do so!

Roman Tooth Fairy - I love that idea, especially now that I'm at the age where they're starting to come out again.

 

Well, I must've done something to upset the Roman Tooth Fairy because they left a LRB and not anything Flavian. :/

 

Think it's gotta be a molar.
