Definitely am liking the British Commonwealth moderns far more than a lot of the USA issues that I collect--their artwork and themes are far more interesting in many cases. Love the high relief design, and texture contrast in the fields and devices of this one. Fairly low pop, and just a pretty coin:

New to this thread, here are my first:

If you can't tell from my blurry pictures (paper money is SOOO much easier to photograph with an iPhone), these are silver sixpence, the first is 1816 the second is 1888. I think I paid around $25 for both with shipping.

Not a new acquisition as such, just another example of the world coins I look for while trolling around a coin show years ago and thought I'd share.

Another interesting Proof Set. Bermuda has very few(17) Proof sets between 1970 and 1999. Most are very low mintage and very expensive. Below is a Silver Proof set that was minted in 1995 but shows the coinage which was introduced in 1970. The exception is the Dollar coin which was introduced in 1988.

Newest pickup. I like the reverse design. No silver but still cool. Sellers pics

Loved the coin, and since I live in Florida (near where the FUN show is, it was very appropriate. Managed to get one for a reasonable price, with an overall mintage of 1,000.

@rooman9 , that's a great reverse on your coin. It's also found on others. I have a gold Australian Sovereign with that same reverse. Nice pick up.

It's bullion from France. Part of the UNESCO commem series. I thought it was a very interesting design. Very intricate. It's The Invalides & Grand Palais release. It only has a little over a 1/2 oz. of silver and some gold gilding, but I bought it for the design, not necessarily the PM.

Here are two new coins, and a proof set i got this week. Afghanistan 1934 50 pul or 1/2 Afghani, silver , I have been wanting one for a while and finally bought one. A 1930 Czech 5 Korun, silver. I have the 10 Korun from the same series already. afgh.jpg afgh2.jpg cz1.jpg cz2.jpg

This is the proof set, i got it for $8.00, mintage of around 5,000. The coins are still in the celophane, but set came with the plastic holder, which the insert feels like cardboard. Is it better to not put them in the plastic holder? I was thinking the material of the insert could discolor the coins. lib1.jpg lib2.jpg lib3.jpg

So far, I have resisted the temptation to remove my proof or mint coins from the original packaging. I have freed up a few that came in PVC laden plastic and put in 2X2s. But these had open, not sealed, packaging.

I have not personally seen many of the type of afghanistan coin i just got, but is it common for them to seem struck off center? it looks to me like the rim is way off on both sides.

Just finished up another group of images for some recent world coin pickups. Was particularly happy to finally get a Polish 10 Zlotych, even though I'm still looking for the earlier version...
