Not too often I get to add greek silver to my collection. This was being sold at a killer price among others and I picked it as it was the cheapest and the toning. Thrace, Chersonesos (386 - 338 B.C.) AR Hemidrachm O:Forepart of lion right, head reverted. R: Quadripartite incuse square with alternating raised and sunken quarters; pellet to left of VE monogram and pentagram above pellet in opposite sunken quarters. 13mm 2.4g BMC 43; McClean –; Weber 2422; SNG Copenhagen –; SNG Dreer 115.
Nice score, Mat ... => here is my humble example ... Curious though => how many comic-books did that baby set you back?
Great coin - the lion is nicely centered, detailed reverse, lovely color to boot, and you got it at a good price? I'm calling it a home run.
Lovely coin! I can't decide if I like the lion's face or the pentagram the best, both make this coin very pleasing to the eye.
Further to my earlier comment: I missed this...I like the little test mark at 5:00 obverse... just the right amount of wear... great circulated coin! I covet that!
