I've got a 1960 d penny and want to know more about the errors on it and see if it's possibly worth something.
If that area is raised it might be a die chip. If that area is indented probably just damage to the coin after minting
Where did you go and who told you this? Maybe a small Lamination which is common on those older Cents, no huge premium. Looks like a worn die issue and much circulation on the entire Cent.

Don't figure, just sell it to him for as much as you can get. If he makes an offer, counter offer with a higher amount. Be willing to come down and settle for less and hope that he'll raise his offer. Whatever the offer is, take it and run out the door. PS. I would not go back and buy anything from him either.
