    Howdy All!
Some asked the other day what a body bag looks like and so I thought I would post a photo.
The first photo shows everything that is in the Body bag....the big flip is first...and the smaller flip is inside that flip---the bag has the coin inside and the bag is inside the smaller flip.

The "Cert" is on the other side of the big flip.

the label says 'improperly cleaned' .... so do they slab 'properly' cleaned coins... how does one 'properly' cleans coins??

maybe cleaning itslef is 'improper' and that is what is meant.... ill go sit in a corner and ponder :)

I'll never understand why they just don't slab it as cleaned with a grade on it. It's bizzare. You paid for a service that was not received in my opinion.

yes, one of the big two with PCGS.
Actually NGC, but Numis. Conservation Service.
They will "conserve" coins for you.
For example: remove ugly toning, etc.
Does anyone know what this costs?
I have a beautiful 1892 P Half dollar that is toned black and I'd like to get it 'conserved'.
(Looks about AU-58 to Unc, can't tell with the black toning.).

Hate those body bags. I got one once on a 1890-S morgan that I was sure would go at least MS66. In stead it went improperly cleaned.

That means it wasn't cleand by NCS (my opinion of NGC).

Do you have a picture of the coin, Speedy?

    Speedy,

Do you have a pic of the 42/41?

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

Thanks Speedy for going through all that trouble for my question.

They really should give you a refund, or at least send it next door to NCS to get net graded.

Of course they slab properly cleaned coins, they do it every day - so does PCGS. It has been said many, many times but I guess it needs said again - improperly cleaned = harshly cleaned. I think that's the part that throws people off when they say improperly cleaned.

As to how to do it properly - the simplest explanation is that the coin is dipped.

Gosh, it's like looking at a morgue. Thank you for not showing us the "dead" coins in their bags, it would've been too much

Speedy, Do you need that bodybag? If not may I have it? I don't appear to have that type listed yet.

I have great difficulty getting information on bodybags. It seems like no one wants to admit that they got one. and they are seldom pictured when someone sells the coin. It makes them very hard for me to get.

I used to belong to the NGC Collector Society, They had info on the "Conservation Service" but I believe the fees charged are dependant on the amount of "conservation" required. I could be wrong...

Glad that some of ya'll found this enjoyable :D
I'll try to get photos of the coin---I agree that it was clearly cleaned...I just thought that there was a chance that it would slab.
