Thanks Ben- Ah alert and the sound of the klaxon blasting. How I miss it! When I first got to Ellsworth in Aug 86 the runway was closed for repair and we were sent to Malstrom in Great Falls, MT to pull alert. The squardron was right on the flight line on the second floor of base ops. We then moved to the building between the 2 B-1 Squardrons down the road from the 28th BMW Headquarters. Now the 28th ARFES has been disbanded. I don't remember seeing any challenge coins when I was there. I wish I had. The ones you posted are beautiful. Glad they got some for the enlisted ranks. They are the ones that make it happen in the military. If you would keep me posted on the proposed commerative coin for Ellsworth. I would love to get one. Hoping to make a trip to Rapid City in the coming few years. My wife has never been and she would fall in love with the Black Hills. The coffee or beer is on me if I head up there. Thanks again for all the info. Here is a link to me flying by Mount Rushmore. I have this picture hanging in my office. http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/6926/img3261yp9.jpg
Welcome aboard Jesse. Thanks for posting the website and your service to our country. My brother is a field artillery battalion commander with the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan right now. I will ask him if he gets a challenge coin when gets back next month and maybe you can post it to the website. Thanks again. Craig
