If there is anyone who is familiar with these Medals/Coins I need your help. Yes, there are a lot of coins/medals on the list, but I have a great opportunity to buy these items at what appears to be a good price, well I think it is. That is why I need your help!! I am new at collecting large medals/coins. I was offered this as a bulk deal, but I want to make sure I am not going to get ripped off, I am sure you all can relate? This would be my first bulk buy if the price is right.

Any comments or help with price would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

**Sorry No pics at this time :( **

Are they good coins/medals?? What would be a good buy price??

That's quite an extensive list! I would start at ebay looking a final sales prices of those that might have been up for sale. Pandamerica sells Chinese silver issues although I do not know how far back they go. It would take any one of us at least as long as you to look these all up, so hunker down and start looking around. I hope this is a local offer and not from overseas. I would hate to see you get a bunch silver plated forgeries mixed in with actual slabbed items, which might be teasers to make this sale look good. If this is an online sale, be very, very careful. Good luck.

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

This whole deal smells fishy. I suggest you forget about it, today, now. I would no more buy this lot sight unseen than I would vote for you-know-who.

Go flash the same amount of cash at your next local coin show (take 2 alert coin-savvy friends), you will get just as good a deal, if not better, except face-to-face, plus ten dealers fighting to take your cash home...

I suggest you punt on this purchase as the chance of being stiffed from "overseas" merchants is almost a sure thing!

Perhaps it would help if you would tell us exactly why you're interested in this potential purchase. Are you simply a budding collector or, perhaps, could it be that youre looking for profitable material? To be honest, it seems like an awful lot, both in number and likely price, for a collector new to such things to have a personal keep-only interest in.

With that said, Tommy has given you fine advice in regards to helping determine a "value", but as it stands now, I think you may be biting off more than you can chew. Perhaps this will change if you're willing to share more of the story, but either way, if you do move forward, do so only with the greatest caution.

Perhaps I'm just losing it, but where does the OP mention "overseas" or even that this deal would be sight unseen? It very well could be, but until he says as much, any advice given really should be based upon what we know and not assumptions.

Pics would have to be shown to determine whether they were good looking coins or not but you're talking about a big price tag for these coins. So what if some say they were graded by PCGS or NGC, there's plenty of fake slabs which have the same number and coin as PCGS or NGC, and they are real live fakes. Pass on this lot as I think somebody is trying to reel you into this big purchase and it just don't feel right.

Add up the weight and if the total for the lot is well below the silver spot value it is quite possibly a fraud, the cheaper the silver, the more likely the fraud.

If someone brought this stuff to me and it checked as silver I'd pay 95% of metal value and sell for 105% for a 10% turn and take 5% if I had to.

I'd be considering this stuff as bullion, no more, no less. I'd expect any likely buyer of such material in quantity to have the same attitude. It's about 230 ounces, not pocket change but not really a big deal.
There may be buyers for this sort of material at a considerable premium individually, but on a bulk sale I'd expect those premiums to evaporate.

For someone doing the shows listed, and with the credentials listed at the bottom of your post, I consider it quite an imposition upon others to tell you what you should be paying for this material. Don't you think that is a bit unprofessional?

    Good catch....

A "bit unprofessional" is an understatement.

john41 Toned coins, I like them. If I have it so can you.

Hum a dealer asking about bullion coins? Spam? If you really are a dealer then you should know how to buy silver bullion. if someone posted for you well they are a dealer and can figure the price for you. The price is going to change with spot. If you are a collector the you should spend your money on collector coins that will have a better numismatic value such as high grade Morgans like this.[IMG]

I truly believe there are people who have more experience with certain coins and medals on this forum than myself. I appreciate your compliment for sure, but I am humble to a point to ask other collectors and professionals to give me their opinion. It is fair to hear from people whom I respect on this forum. You are all professionals with regards to what you know best. Thank you again for your compliment and post!!

"Collectors"? So you're telling us that this purchase, in its entirety, would be for personal enjoyment?

It's one thing to ask for help with a coin or three, but something altogether different for a seller/dealer to plug the forum for someone to do their dirty work. I'm sorry, but it's just distasteful.
