Tiny little gold colored coin, obviously not a true US Gold Coin, but what is it? My wife bought two of them locally, and I've never seen them before. Cent in photo for size reference.
Were they some kind of novelty TV ad coin or something? She got them for $.25, so money isn't an issue, just would lIke to know the story behind them. Seems like a tiny replica of the 1907, with MCMVII on it.
Some time back (and perhaps still for all I know), similar looking trinkets were fairly common on ebay, often in small lots iirc (like ten for $10 or whatever). Perhaps the same, or perhaps not, but is what it reminds me of. Personally, I would consider this more of a novelty than anything else.
a long time ago these were advertised as gold plated and givin to customers as a consolation gift with a purchase on some tv show like QVC, anyway my grandmother gave me this one yrs ago an told me thats how she got it...
That would be my guess. There's all kinds of miniature coins made and sold as novelty items. You can buy complete sets of them.
