Topcat => I think it's merely an optical illusion? (I can also make the reverse-horse look like it's an incuse if I relax my eyes and let it happen ... it's kinda cool)

That's a beauty, oki. Great strike and almost no wear, superb style, and I much prefer a darkly-toned denarius. Really a great coin.

I really do not focus on Roman Empire...rather, I love Roman Republic... However, I am closing in on almost 100 of them, and about 70 different emperors... I just captured Hadrian this week: Roman Empire Hadrian AD 117-138 AR Denarius 17.1mm, 3.34g Rome mint Obv: Bare Head r Rev: Salus standing r, feeding snake coiled around alter. RIC 267
When I captured it, the posting did not photo the toning well. When I received it, I was pleasantly surprised! I am very fortunate (UNfortunate sometimes) that my camera REALLY pics up the details!
Ok here's my Hadrian. I love big Alexandrian drachms Obverse: AVT KAIC TPAI A∆PIA CEB, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, wearing aegis, from behind Reverse: Nilus reclining left on a crocodile right, himation around waist and legs, cornucopia in right from which an infant genius emerges, reed in left, Iς above, L TPICKAI (year 13) in exergue I want an Antinous drachm too. But these are ridiculously expensive, even an ugly one.
