Ok so I have been putting it off, why I do not know. But yesterday I scrounged up some change laying around and bought $90 in halves. From that I pulled 2 1964 and 4 40%. Also a 1963 Canadian half. I took the rest back to the same bank and bought $80. From this I pulled 2 40% and a 1962 Franklin. I can not believe I didn't do it sooner. No real comments necessary here. Just wanted to share me glee at finding silver for face. Michael
Great finds! I'm a bit surprised at the canadian half- they aren't the same diameter as US halves (unlike cents, nickels, dimes, quarters). Were they machine-wrapped rolls or hand-wrapped?
AgCollector, the Canadian silver 50c. coin is the same size as the U.S. $1/2 coin.It is the nickel 50c. that is smaller than a $1/2. Aidan.
No, they are definitely a different size- see attached images of alternating Franklins and 1964 Canadian 50 cent pieces; the Canadian ones are slightly smaller.
No fair! I just started searching halves recently and have gone through 4 or 5 rolls with nada for my efforts except a clashed die. Nice finds!
Hey AgCollector, they were machine wrapped. I was surprised myself! so I just got back from the bank with another 9 rolls and... 3 40% 2 90% 1 Franklin. Seriously, now I am mad that I have not been doing this sooner! Michael
