How many times have you submitted the same coin before you gave up?

It's no secret that the same coin can get two different grades on two different days from the same TPG or a different one. What is the most times you've submitted the same coin to a TPG expecting to get a different result? How long did it take you to get that result or did you give up without getting the grade you wanted?

I don't see any doubling. That's one expensive 40 cent Lincoln

I had myself convinced that this was a DDO but I was proven wrong not once but twice. And NO I'm not going to try PCGS.
What's that definition of insanity ????

PS I know I'm not the only one

I've submitted only one coin more than once and it went in to NGC twice.
Unfortunately the same results both times.
I'm working on the adage that the third time is a charm.
It'll go in ONCE more but not to NGC this time.

I'm keeping my eye on this thread, I'd love to hear some more stories from you 'submitters'.

The few I have that would be worth submitting more than once came back with grades I was happy with. A couple of others I thought I could submit again, but they were not worth the cost. One of these days I will get around to submitting coins from my large cent album - a few of those would be worth more than one grading if the first time was off.

I think once I submitted the same coin 3 times. A few other times I submitted twice. Most of the time just once.

I had to submit my 1878-S Trade dollar to NGC 3 times for them to attribute it as an FS-801. The first time it came back AU details, no attribution. Sent it back and told them to look at it again. Sent pictures along with it as well as copies from the Cherrypickers guide, and still nothing when I got it back. I called them and they said they had it in the system as an FS-801 but didn't reprint the correct label for it. The third time, I went to NGC's table at the summer FUN show in Orlando and handed it to the head variety grader; he looked at it and instantly recognized it and said he'd take care of it and sure enough, he got stuff done!

I have yet to submit any coins, but I have a few that I believe are worth it. Which grader would you suggest? Thanks.

If that is a generic request - my preference is PCGS, NGC and then ANAC's. Of course it depends on the type of coin. There are a few cases I would pick NGC first. But to me NGC and PCGS are the best and are equal. I just the clear PCGS holders better than the NGC slabs. :)

Me, I've never done it. But I know of people who have submitted the same coin 5 or 6 times.

I have a better date IHC that I suspect was submitted multiple times before I got it.
    It's now graded PCGS MS-66.
No, I not posting the date.

I once sent a $2 1/2 Liberty gold piece in three times and finally got it graded on the third time. I knew it was a circulated proof but (back then) it came back in a body bag for cleaning or environmental damage before finally getting a PF60 grade.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

This is the one I've sent in the most. I bought it as a 65FBL (for a really! good price). I resubmitted it, hoping for a bump. It got a star (65* FBL). Still thought it deserved more, so I sent it in again, came back as 65* FBL again. Still wasn't happy... so I brought it to the Mark Salzberg presidential review that he does at FUN (he'll look at a couple of your coins, and tell you why they grade the way they do). He immediately recognized its quality and gave it a Plus (I was hoping for a 66, but he said that mark on the rim at k3 on the obverse holds it back.... a $30k mark....). Coin is now a 65+* FBL, and I guess it'll stay there:

I've tried 3 times and will sometimes try again Usually when they don't like the color etc. I've had coins cracked out of a detail slab come back clean on a second try and have had coins clean graded come back details when I tried to cross them. Usually is something like qc

2 times has been my max so far. It took 2 tries to get ngc to agree that one of my 1911 $2 1/2 Indians was a weak D.
