I like the die-polishing lines in yours, TIF! Looks like the dove is nested over a shimmering lake, especially with the toning. VERY nice. Well, if you hate it THAT much, you know where to send it for safe and loving keep!
How about a small bronze coin. Greek Asia.Syria, Antioch. AE 13 mm, 1.32 grams, 1st-2nd cent. AD. Obv. ANTIO-CHA. Draped bust of Men left, wearing Phrygian cap, crescent behind shoulders. Rev. COLONIA I. Cock standing right. SNG Paris, 1062 VF/Good VF.Rare and nice. I could not find another one like this on Coin Archives or elsewhere, but I may not know how to search for Greek (or Roman Provincial) coins. I did find a few coins from Antioch the same time period with cock on the reverse. I picked up this one for a friend of my sister who likes chickens.
Man, I love the evolution of these coin-threads!! Sorry Z, but I had to sneak that baby in the ol' mix ...
Wow Z, i always say" Go big or go home" you hit it out of the park with these Bad Boys!!! have this on my want list!! Rooster you say... Hamsa 1- Fuang around 1500 AD. " No circle at left variety". 14mmx 1.75g.
Now that I look closer, I think it's some variety of chimaera... it's a rooster with the head of Sol on its back.
