Have you seen anything like it? I found it in a roll from the bank 82cud6.jpg 82edge1.jpg 82edge2.jpg 82igwt.jpg 82obv3.jpg 82obv4.jpg

I would agree with Rick on this one. It looks like it was taken out of one of those lucky cent holders. I will also capitulate that I am no expert...but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...ok, no I didn't. :(

It is oblong, and larger than a normal coin. Can you see the front edge south of the bust? there is a transition either side seems to go on a different track, or direction. Like it flipped and got pinched and shot out of the chamber. There are lots of scratches below the date curving around to the West. I'm certainly not an expert, but it looks like a major error to me... lol. There are some experts around here somewhere.

What is a lucky cent holder? This cent does not look lucky.
What could affect the rim all the way around in so many different directions? MAD with partial collar strike?

Well, notch me up as PMD rather than an error. Why do you think there is no way it is PMD. It could have spent years trapped in the edge of a dryer drum, doing the actions you say in #4.

    Perhaps. Interesting nonetheless.
    Thanks guys.
I'm giving up on this one. If I argued tooth and nail like some people around here I could probably get 1,000 views ... lol
I would lose my esteemed reputation though... hahaha

After viewing the photos my first thought was, he's back, but then I saw the name and knew better. Sorry but it's just a penny or a cent depending on whatever you like to call pennies. :)

We have some good people on this thread, so lets have some good fun . I'll start, I know when DDOs or DDRs are found they list them as dies,
    ( DDO-001 & DDR-001 ) but that can't be true .
How do they know which die came first ..

My first thought is a Texas cent given up on half way through
My second thought was railroad coin BUT one of those tiny christmas trains for kids at the mall

Jk of coarse, I think bezel / encased is probably the most likely culprit

Way. PMD. Encased cent seems most likely. The clue I look for is the "v" shaped damage around the edge.

It's stamped on the side of the Die

In the listing of a Doubled Die it's based on which order they are discovered and documented.
