Doug,
You know that I trust your eye and grading more than anyone else I know---I guess I didn't think about the rims that much. When looking at the coin the detail is what stands out so much....I guess eye appeal is what I judged it on. But this is a good learning tool and learning something new is worth so much more than any coin!...at least to me

I sent in 5 coins---2 were mine and the others were from a friend...only 2 can back slabbed.
I sent in a:
1942/1 Dime
1926-S Nickel
3 2 cent pieces.

Now I knew that the 42/1 dime had been cleaned but me and some others thought that it was "market acceptable" and so I sent it in...thinking that it would grade F/VF....Bodybagged...now that didn't make me mad....but when I pulled out the 26-S nickel that is when I got mad...
See the photos below--the coin is plainly a VF20+....they sent it back as VG10! In other words....they didn't take into thinking that this coin has a weak strike....so I called them and they said to send it back along with $30 and they would take a looksee :desk: :headbang:

My buddy had 2 coins BB'ed for cleaning also---his other one came back MS62....I sure didn't think that his would comeback cleaned....he thought one of them might though....

Maybe NGC is getting tighter....I'm pretty sure that "good ol" PCGS would have slabbed all of these in a heat beat.

I've been meaning to join the NGC collectors club and if I do I'm thinking I'll send back in the Nickel.....in VF the coin is worth around $250-$300 and I don't have anywhere near that in it so I think it would be worth it to send it in again.

On the other hand---I understand that some people collect Bodybags.....seems nuts to me but maybe I have something really nice here!!!
