Here's a Morgan I picked up. It looks pretty good, just wondering what you guys think the grade will be. Thanks.
Hmmmm, not sure since I don't collect them. However, I would CLOSELY examine the date as it exhibits some sort of "doubling", perhaps ejection doubling. Or could be some sort of "recutting". Can't tell from the photos but I would certainly have it closely examined. Seems to me there are specialized reference books about dollar varieties and such and you might want to consult them. Memory recalls that Walter Breen's book might or the VAM stuff. Sorry not more specific but not being a collector of these I'm woefully lacking in reference material. All that being said, I agree with BooksB4Coins, probably not worth the cost versus premium you might receive on selling it.
The fields are almost unmarred; that is what stuck out to me at first glance. 64, but a high-end one with those fields. Unfortunately this is about the cheapest Morgan in 66 or 67, much less lower grades. To my mind, an excellent addition to any collection but probably not worth the cost of grading. No need to add yet another mid-grade example to a topheavy Population. Free the cartwheels. Hold this one in your hand and enjoy what a Morgan really feels like.
I agree, also appears to be some sort of "doubling" on the stars to the right of the date, here is the VAM website, mentioned above. http://www.vamworld.com/
I agree with others... A high end 64, but being that almost every '81s is super nice they grade these on a curve.... If this were an '81cc for example it might just go 65....
