Please post your recommendations here for dealers that have nice MS63-MS64 $20 Saint Gaudens in common dates. I guess they wouldn't have to have a strong web presence if they didn't mind emailing pictures, but as busy as most folks are, I'm not sure that would be possible. Already watching Heritage and David Lawrence. Have been through all the dealers in geekpryde's "Master List" but was hoping for some personalized experience and recommendations. Thanks.
Try where the people in here recommended I go to find coins. Collectors Corner http://www.collectorscorner.com It's like a central market place for many of the better dealers.
If you're looking for nice MS63-64 Saints, you'll have to look at coins in hand to cull out the ones that aren't nice. Also, check out collectors.com. Good search engine for this kind of stuff.
Legend carries common date gaudens sometimes. I never buy them but Laura doesn't buy common dates unless they are really nice.
Boy, you have been searching for a long time. I agree with MD, best to see them in hand. Some graded 63 Saints look great, while others are real dogs: spotted, hacked up, dull luster, rubby on the chest and knees ect. My favorite Saints have been bought at local shops. You never know when a nice one will come across their counter. Depending on what happens to the price of gold, it is hard to go too wrong as common Saints are only a couple hundred dollars above melt in 63 grade.
My local shops are crap, and yes, I have been looking for quite a while. I took some time off from the hunt because I spent the money I had saved up on some other coins. I might just wait for the Whitman show in November.
And for commons she probably wants a + or CAC designation. It's just not worth her time to deal in common commons.
As long as an online dealer from Ebay, GC, or HA offers a refund, you should be OK. With HA (vetting and pics) and GC (refund policy), should not be a problem. Check each seller on Ebay. The return policy is more critical on higher-priced items, of course.
