full steps again

    Have a 40-d jeff with 6 bold in the center and five each on the outside steps. do they count. everybody talks about the center steps only.all are sharp, PCGS MS-66, very curious.

    Hello, penny pincher. Welcome to Variety Nickels.

    The 1940-D is usualy sharp and well struck. Five steps are very common.

    I liked the pictures, but what about the steps on the far right and left, Including the landing these have 6 steps each also, Do they count for anything...Thanks...

    Hi Penny Pincher, Welcome. The side steps are not counted in the step count on Monticello, just the center steps, although they are an important aspect of the strike as far as "full strikes" go.
