Hi guys, i decided to post a thread I can keep updating as I find new bills in the register. Today i found my first birthday note (10142001), and another Ill hang on to which is 2 years (19951998) I also found a silver mercury dime! Love finding silver, its rare in the register.
Your profile says you are 31, but according to the birthday note, you say you are almost 14 don't lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JK
He says he found his own birthday note, which he says is 10142001, which would mean October 14th, 2001. And you realize this was a joke right?
Let's see if I can make some sense of this sentence - Today - Meaning on this day i found - He or she discovered my first - Their very first birthday note - A note with the serial numbers that resembles a month/day/year I don't see any reference of the OP saying that it was their very own B-day note but that it was their first B-day note
So far today in the register a $20 star note with what seems like a fairly low run, maybe someone can double check that for me? Am i correct in it being a 512k run? Also an old style $50 came through, decent crisp shape but has a torn corner. Both will probably go back into the wild. Unless the star is worth keeping. I dont normally keep the 20's though.
Another $20 star note came through, nothing else though. Going back to the wild. Also this clean $5 star. Probably back to the wild also, i only keep the dollars.
Ive got a question, which seems obvious, but i figured id ask still. Is writing on a bill with a counterfeit bill detecting pen just as bad as writing on it with any other pen/marker?
Yup. The only marks that don't take value away are signatures for notes that require a hand signature (not on US currency), or the red crayon mark (or stickers) the BEP uses to identify error notes to be pulled and destroyed. Sometimes the BEP will mark a note, but it still ends up in circulation.
Not a whole lot to report on, ive only kept about 8 star notes all $1 bills. Nothing else worth setting aside. Although i kept a handful of wheat pennies, a couple proof coins, and one penny caught my eye then i noticed it had about 10% rotated die. Which is somewhat normal i guess. I'll be back with updates when anything interesting comes through.
Found another birthday note today, and my stack of $1 star notes behind it. I have about 65. D08261955B
Hey it's been a while. I'll resurrect this thread with a lower serial number find from today. A bit beat up but the lowest number I've seen over 2 years on a register. 000000198
Found what I believe is I clipped planchet on a 1961 cent. Looks right to me anyway. Only slightly clipped, but still cool.
Serial number and seal printed slightly lower than normal. Now that I've noticed this I paid attention to it while counting money for my gas station the day today. I notice a couple here and there that are off tiny amounts... But not even this much... However I feel like it's still an insignificant amount off. Is there a % that they allow for it.... Like misaligned coins are typically not considered an error at like even less 10% off
