I received my ebay bucks earlier this week. It wasn't much but it allowed me to add to my World War 2 Collection. I picked up this batch of Japanese Occupation Money. I liked it because I didn't have the 100 Peso and than there were the two that had descriptions and dates on them.
I've been wondering the same thing for the last hour. It looks like Nors. but that makes no sense. And right as I was writing that @ken454 throws down the answer haha
I found this one in the currency equivalent of the junk bin. It says "Souvenir from D Day in France. Normandy beachhead in Omaha, George."
That's a fantastic piece! I just love the history of these things. Who knows who really had it and what their story was. MY Great Grandpa fought in the war and I secretly hope to find one that he happened to sign haha I don't think it will happen but it's a nice dream. I picked this one up earlier this year on ebay. It flew under the radar and I got it cheap.
Cool notes!! This one is not worth much but it looks good in my US Philippines coin collection. I got this one out of a dealer's 25 cent junk bin. When I pulled it out and laid it on the counter, he said he didn't know that it got put in there, but still sold it to me for a quarter.
I have a Philippines occupation note much like these that I keep for amusement. On the back it reads (sic): "This is the money the Japs use in the Philippine. Now don't worth a penny. We are using it to build fire and for toilet paper. See how rich we are here. ha ha. I have lots of them."
