    Hello folks
Check out my latest cherry, this is my 2nd clashed D merc dime! Look right in front of the Axe blade for the letter D of God and maybe even a few other letters. It also sports a detached nose and extremely heavy polish lines. There's probably more that I haven't even noticed yet. Thats What Makes Posting Here So invaluable!!! I traded off the other one i found so i was exstatic to find another!! Have a good sunday! 20150927_105848.jpg 20150927_110009.jpg 20150927_110031.jpg

I'm curious if the others had a clashed D on the back? The other D clasher I had wasn't this broken nose type. I'll see if I can dig up the old posts. Thanks paddy

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Clashing is very common on these, and most other small coins. Congrats on a find which has apparently got you quite excited.

The "broken nose" is also extremely common. The die polish has moved a significant amount of metal, such that the fields are now lower than they were before (that is, on the coin they appear higher). Almost all series will exhibit some form of this.

To each their own I suppose. I detest broken noses on mercury dimes. They are very common and can ruin an otherwise beautiful coin. On the other hand, I find some die clashes on mercury dimes attractive, particularly when you can see the leaves on the obverse. See attached (not my coin - this is from PCGS coinfacts).

As to OP's coin, I think it is a very attractive coin for only $2.

    agreed, common.

also, if you want us to see what you are talking about, take pictures before putting it in the 2X2.
