    I agree with the others...

A 'military' bust with a palm tree reverse??? And 'lettering' that mystifies me...

A token of some kind, but what?? And from where?

Perhaps a "Temple Token". In some places one may not use "money" as a proper offering to the gods so one purchases a token from the priests to make an appropriate offering. The inscription seems to be using a kind of modified Greek lettering, which does not make any sense to me, perhaps based on the coinage of Greek Bactria where, by the first century BC, nobody any longer understood the use of Greek wording. The image looks to be something from that area. As for the date, I think it a more recent production, perhaps some thing that US military personnel acquired from that region.

K-M's answer sounds exceedingly plausible to me.

    Possibly a movie prop "coin".

In the script, I thought I noticed similarities to Ethiopian, but that's mostly guesswork--it could easily be a fantasy piece.

Hindu-Arabic numerals, like what seems to be a "nine" appeared in that part of the world many centuries before their appearance in the West. if it is a struck rather than cast coin it may have something more than fantasy provenance. What is the fabric, the metal of the piece?

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think the coin/medal is made with a silver alloy and does have some heft to it.
