I got very lucky last week. Went to bank as usual asking if they had any new ATB quarter rolls. The tellers weren't busy so they started looking at their rolls. One of them said this roll is not new, the top one is 1959. I asked to see it and it was 1959 and it looked as the whole roll was 1964 and earlier. She let me have it for face value. I asked if they had any other rolls like that one, but they couldn't find any. The whole roll was in fact circulated silver go back to 1938 most in the 50's and 60's. I have never had a find like that, but I guess they are still out there somewhere. Can you imagine if that roll had gone into someone's change drawer.

Last week I found a sweet hole filler - 1950-D nickel!! Oh man I was stoked! :)

Went through a box of BWR nickels from NH. The overall quality of the coins was better than I usually find from my MA bank branch. In addition to the 1950-D, I found a near mint 1940-D and a new looking 1967. The 1967 did have worn off steps, though, so that was a bit disappointing. I'll have to keep looking to upgrade that year.

Box of BWR pennies had 18 typical wheaties, none special.

Box of BWR quarters had no old coins, but I did fill in some newer territory and park coin slots and upgraded a couple 80's coins in my book. Not mint, but better than I had in there.

This week and possibly for a couple of weeks I'm doing maintence, checking previously found coins against my books. This is the boring part I don't care for, but the piles of coins I've pulled is getting out of hand, so...

Anyway, here are my two treasures from last week. :)

NIFC? I think the correct term is NCLT - non-circulating legal tender. ?

Anyway, we're @ it again here. I'm trying to corner the punishment market with gluttony (rain in the forecast ALL WEEKEND).

2 more boxes was all my small-town bank would give me today:

Amazing that the '50-D was in circulation long enough to become that worn.

    $25 worth of BWR cents:
    6 common date wheats
    2 68-74 S mints
    $100 worth of BWR nickels
    17 40s dates
    1 1952-S
1 1943-D silver - I really like finding D mm war nickels - I find about one of them for every 20-25 P mints.

Then found a 1987 Canadian loonie in the reject slot of the coin machine.

I was super excited to find it. :)

I'm still looking for seven nickels, but finding the key date really helps. All of my nickels are circulated.

Greetings: I am a CT Virgin (hope I can say that) and a reborn collector; if you include my partially filled Whitmans from the 50's and the foreign coins my grandmother left for me. I've been reading your threads for a month or so and noted that many of you periodically get bags or rolls of coins at the bank, so when I was there today, I asked for a roll of halves and the teller said:" I just got 2 rolls in do you want them both?" Well I'm a sport and went for the $20. Both rolls had a lightly noted "silver" on them, so I figured it was someone's name. To my surprise I scored the following K's: 1 (65) 3 (66) 12 (1967) 16 (68D) 4 (69D). And oh yeah, 2 (64), a 63 Ben and a 45D Walker. If my math is correct, I guess about $103 in melt value.Thank you for your impetus to do this; the bank's address will remain anonymous.

Yeah seriously! The only other one I've found is the '14 I posted here a while back. I mostly find buffs with no visible date.

    From the cent box; 10 wheats, 3 Canadians (including a 57 Canadian). 40's + 50's, + a '28 and a '29 Wheat. Keepers, @ best.

    Now on to the nickels..................................................

One learns something new every day, if one pays attention, and keeps the TV off. Reading these comments and other blogs, I learned that 2009 nickels and dimes are relatively scarce. Apparently, the banks, due to the 2007-2008 financial dust up, did not order many coins from the Fed and thus from the Mint. So the mintage was (relatively) light (off about 60 -70 % approx) from prior years. Checked the concept out on Ebay, and a roll of bank wrapped nickels was selling for $12.00, and Mint wrapped virgins for somewhat more. Similar premium was asked for rolls of dimes.
Found that factoid very interesting. So when one is trolling thru rolls/boxes of nickels and dimes, place the 2009's on your keeper list.

You guys will never believe what I just found in a nickel roll straight from the bank. Wondering if anyone else had finds like this? I don't know if it's a nickel that's modified or a fake from the bank lol.
