An Augustus tet or cistophor (or both ) has been on my personnal list for decades. Didn't take the time and money to go further yet though. That one is quite nice, it would easily make my day Q
Nice!! ... wow, Mat => I love that sweet addition!! The obverse is awesome "and" that Tyche & River-god reverse is always a total winner!! (congrats, sweet coin) Ummm, I hope it's okay if I post a couple of coins that aren't quite the same, but they have a couple of things in common? => the first example is merely from the same city, Seleucis & Pieria ... SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria, Philip I Æ 8 Assaria AD 244-249 Antioch mint Diameter: 30 mm Weight: 16.39 grams Obverse: Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I right Reverse: Turreted, veiled, and draped bust of Tyche right; above, ram leaping right, head left; Δ-Є and S-C across field Reference: McAlee 990 Oh, and my second example merely has a similar cool Tyche-reverse ... PHOENICIA, Tyre. Trajan AR Tetradrachm AD 98-117 Struck AD 110/1 Diameter: 27 mm Weight: 14.44 grams Obverse: Laureate head right; below, club left and eagle standing right with wings folded Reverse: Tyche seated right, foot set on river-god swimming to right below Reference: McAlee 470 (Antioch); Prieur 1498 ... again Mat => that's one sweet coin-addition, my friend!! (very cool)
AWESOME Augustus, Mat! (Was that a verbal redundancy?) Nice job... and I know you well... you captured it for a GREAT price!
A very nice coin! A silver tetradrachm of Augustus is on my (long and growing longer every day) wishlist.
