It's the ONLY reason I've purchased them. Well, that and maybe the urge to get folks, who have an interest in Zombie Stuff, to perhaps develop an interest in "coin stuff".
I bought the silver one, big fan of Lady Liberty with a sword. Also bought some plastic capsules for the Pirate two ounce coins. Maybe a series with different heads.
I have no interest in the current rage of "Zombie Shows" on TV. My wife is absolutely hooked. Having said that, it's impossible to ignore the artwork on the Zombucks Silver Round Series. This current fascination with Zombie-related shows will soon (HOPEFULLY) be swept away into history just as the idiotic Reality Shows and American Idol-esque shows have. As ken454 has mentioned, the best place to look for current Zombucks is Provident Metals website. For the early versions ebay is probably your best bet. I have a friend on another coin site that has the whole set, and stores them in a special Zombucks case that Provident offers (as an option) for the set. By-the-way, there are reports of Zombucks developing milk spots after a while. Provident is a great company. I have a beautiful set of copper rounds in Type designs (seated Liberty, incused Indian quarter eagle, Peace dollar, etc.). It allows close examination of some amazing coin designs of the past, without having to mortgage the house. Just my humble opinion. There's no shortage of fans that love Zombie shows. Jack
I think a discussion of the walking dead shows and other zombie stuff deserves a separate thread in the general section. Care to make it happen lyds?
Finally completed a couple Copper Zombucks Set's to fill my displays. (I got a little gory with the one) They look great on the wall in the Man Cave.
This post is quite comical for several reasons. #1, "Sir Waddlesworth"-funny name. #2 funny avatar-duckling. #3 Fun coin display.
Sir W - Did you actually make these boards? I'm knocked out by the Type Design display and would love to try it myself. Really amazing displays. Good job! Jack
Jack, Yes I made these. I used a CAD program to print out a design pattern for the holes, then I made a wood template and used a router with a collar to cut the holes. I had to fine tune the process a little, but I finally figured it out. I have a vinyl cutter that I use to make the BioHazard symbols. So far I have tried out solid oak and MDF. I would love to get access to a laser cutter and try some idea's in Acrylic. Thanks for the compliments.
Sir W - You have every reason to be proud of your handiwork. The tolerances for the holes (which includes the Airtites) is either right, or not, and you really nailed it. A lot of thought and time went into to these displays. I bet you could sell them. I'm sure they're way too labor intensive though. I have the same Copper Type set. I'd love to be able to display them like this. I'm too old to learn CAD, and I'd be dangerous with a router (although I own a brand new 3 hp, Harbor Freight model that I've never used - lol). Just know that your talent is not common and the display turned out SPECTACULAR! Thanks for sharing it (and making me envious - lol). Jack
You are right about the time, materials, and listing fee's not being profitable. (Although I do have some listed on the "Bay") If you are interested in one, I'm always up for trades. Message me if interested.
I'm thinking of getting these for my son for Christmas. Looks like 9 are available in proof at Provident. Are the proofs high quality?
WLH22 - I can only speak from my experience, everything I've ever bought from Provident was absolutely first rate. My most recent purchase was their 2 oz Silver Cleopatra Round. It is one of the most striking engravings I've ever seen. Check it out at the Provident website and let me know what you think. Jack
WLH22, You are right. It really is breathtaking. The thing that actually sold me is that all of the design elements are completely accurate. Did you watch the short video? Warning - if this is the wrong time to be spending $50, DON'T WATCH THE PROVIDENT VIDEO!! Jack
