Here is my old ANACS Sample Sample Slabs By C. Keifer at his web site It is a type 1 And in the Sample Slab Book by David Schwager it is listed as ANACS-10-1-1
Those are nice holders with the blue "OFFICIAL ANA GRADE" underprinting instead of the more common green "ANACS" underprinting.
That is cool, but speaking of ANACS as I guess a second tier grader, what are your thoughts about using them? Thanks
PCGS and NGC will bring more money than ANACS will if/when you sell. I would use them but not for anything real expensive.
I used to have a bunch of Morgans in those early ANA-PNG slabs, love the style and the coins within were usually pretty darn breathtaking too, with rainbow toning. Last week I managed to buy a slightly different ANACS slab though, my first of this style. Not sure where it fits in the grand scheme of slabs, but I like it! And since we're talking early ANACS..... I'll post coin shots in the new purchases thread.
That is a very nice Photo Cert and I have always like the holder. The Photo Cert is a type 6 issued for about 3 years 1983 thru 1985 Capital Plastics still make that holder it is $28.00 (P/N ANAX), and they do make one snap together holder for 12.15 ea. ( P/N MO01) for the photo certs. If you want to know more about the photo cert just google 'ANACS Photo Certs" and a PDF file will come up and you can down load it, print it if you want to, or save it to your computer. I wrote and put the article together. The small white holders do tone the coins the silver coins nicely, I have many that have just toned very nicely. The ANA-PNG slabs were only issued for less then 1 year and then Amos Press bought the grading company from the ANA they changed the label just a little bit but the labels still toned the coins.
if you mean photocertificates, no I don't think so. I believe the last such firm was ANAAB and they folded in Nov of 2002. ANAAB was an authtication only service owned by the ANA that they began a few years after they sold ANACS to Amos press.
NGC actually did a small run of photo-certificates in 2005. It was done for the Eliasberg foreign gold collection that was auctioned off by Bowers. The coins were in regular (non-NGC) holders, and the photo-cert was a separate laminated piece of paper with the coin's picture on it.
Anyone have any samples slabs they could post from any company? Please post them. Or non samples slabs just old holders. I would like to see them. Thanks.
PCI "0.2" (different from 0.1 due to the placement of the information...the coin and photo are the same as in "0.1")
This is not my item and it has been up for a while on ebay. It is the only ANAAB I've ever seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alexander-t...-16-5-grams-/141795177263?hash=item2103a6b32f
I saw an ANAAB photocert at the grapevine show last week, I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much - the problem was the underlying coin was fairly rare. By the way if you're looking for Robert's article on old ANACS photocerts (which I recommend as a fascinating read), David has it mirrored on his site with permission: https://sites.google.com/site/sampleslabbook/downloads
