Good idea, I really hope it is a gold coin, but there are many counterfeits of German and Austrian gold coins...

You'd actually probably get better treatment if they weren't your mortgagee. As your mortgagee, they know they got your business.

And how was your activity profiting the bank? You're just making more work for them by having to deal with boxes/rolls for you and then dealing with them again when you return them. The only thing that makes the manager "one of the dumbest bank managers I ever met" was that he didn't catch on to your scam sooner.

Congrats on that find of a lifetime, worth more the 70 cents.

You can lose the fighting words and I'll be honest with you I wouldn't mind it one bit. Ergo, since when is roll-searching a "scam," or is it only so when you feel like it? And, yes, she should have caught on a long time ago. What if I was "dry-cleaning" dirty money under pretense? Ever open an account in a bank, lately? You know what the USA PATRIOT Act is, don't you? This bank manager fell asleep at the wheel. And, no, I don't break my back carrying boxes of halves to profit banks. Sure, I made work for them. Every roll-searcher does. At $6000 in halves a week, I just made more work.

Amazing find but an even more what an amazing attitude. Yours, not hers.
Seriously, you dump $375 a week in a counter & have to Stop The Presses because your short 70 cents.Go through the CRH threads and see how many are yearning for a chance to dump for free. Now you are going to close that account because you don't like how you were treated. Astounding!
I have had a few tellers here and there complain once in awhile but I just ignored it, bought more stock in that bank, and just outlasted them. Sometimes by their moving on,sometimes by them being transferred, or sometimes being fired for being rude to a customer who is a stock holder.
But I have never questioned a counting machine, especially over 70 cents. Who in their right mind has time to count $375 in change and be a serious CRH'er. I have a rough figure in my head when I dump (unless rolled) but GEEZE!
Obviously your not quite as friendly in person as you are portraying here. If you were, they wouldn't have had an attitude with you.

Another thought. If you are so disappointed in all boxes being new coin & not taking the time to check the coins individually (which you obviously are not) then you are really missing out on some possible great discoveries.

Let me see if i have this right...

-you regularly "dump" $375 per week, yet whine about supposedly being 70 cents short, and then want 75 in return for your, ahem, troubles.

-you call this girl "high maintenance" and repeatedly rag on her about her indifferent treatment of you, yet portray yourself as the mistreated.

-you knock her for not wanting to dig through dirty bandaids, even though this is what directly lead to your windfall.

-you repeatedly berate her yet are insulted that she dared not greet you in a way you feel entitled to.

-you got a small gold coin, plus a dollar plus in other coins, for free, yet instead of just being happy, you feel the need to not only complain, but hurl mud at every opportunity.

    Did I miss anything?

Your pettiness knows no bounds, sir. Perhaps it is the bank who actually wins with your departure.

    OP,

I'll give you 22.50 + $0.70....but you have to pay shipping & include one new, still sealed, unused band aid.
And the band aid must grade unc

Are you freaking serious??! And you think a box of donuts or a pizza makes everything even? I suppose you're too good to spend your own time, effort and expense rolling those 600 rolls each week.

reply to #1 - i pay $15/month to "use" their services which include a coin counter
#2 - i was already leaving before this happened because i found a bank that didn't charge to dump - this was just the icing on the cake
#3 - i have been ignoring their comments but clearly from your comment it bothered you as well because you have to "ignore it".
    #4 - basic math - 2015 box of dimes/nickels/pennies = $375
#5 - here were my responses from when i walked in the door to when i walked out
    - "good afternoon"
    - "yup, its me again"
    - "looks like there are some coins stuck in the counter. CAn you help?"
    - "thanks"
    - "looks like i am .70 short do you know if any more of them got stuck in the machine?"
    - "instead of digging out 7 dimes, do you mind if i just take the 3 quarters on top?"
    - "thanks"
    - "if you are going to throw it away, i will take it"
    - "no i don't mind digging through the trash"
    - "please?"
    - "i appreciate it - thanks!"
    - "yes i would like to deposit it all"
    - "thanks. see you next week"

just because i have opinions of someone that treats me "a little edgy" and i transform those opinions into words on a forum does not mean i spat cuss words at the woman. again see #3 because it bothers you too.

#1 - i asked, i did not demand. if someone is giving something away for free wouldn't you ask? or are you the person that is grumpy because they didn't think to ask? i was more than willing to "dumpster dive" through that nasty stack to pick out 7 dimes - but i asked. do you pay MSRP to buy a new car? nope - you ask for a discount. no harm in asking for anything as long as you are willing to accept the answer either way.

#2 - in this thread - yes - i did not give a favorable opinion. so what? i was polite and to the point in our interactions. see my respose to the other poster above about the conversation

#3 - i knocked on her for wanting to throw away $1.42. thats a lot of free money - to me atleast. are you making fun of me because i'm basically poor and would do things for $1.42 that most wouldn't?

#4 - i berate her in a thread on a forum - again see my previous post about the conversation. i'm sorry i have a negative opinion of someone who's first though of me is "oh, its you". i'll work on that for you

#5 - mud hurled = thread on a forum about a mystery female at a mystery bank. yup, check. mud hurled. no other actions are being taken by me other than having my LCS check this coin out from what i posted in the initial post.

#6 - so i don't make a lot of money and i use this hobby to help float some bills. so again - you are making fun of me or berating me because i'm kind of poor? big internet balls you got there

    #7 - nope - they lose $15/month and i gain $15/month - i win

Oh, cool out. You're making me seem like some kind of criminal. They let us do it, and with their eyes wide open. I'm just surprised the bank manager didn't know about it for almost two years.

Yeah... I'm "making fun" of you for being poor because I'm slick like that. I've this magical ability to see the financial situations of those completely unknown to me, and have nothing better to do than put them down for it. Seriously though, you play the victim well; this girl mistreats you, the bank mistreats you, and now I too have mistreated poor little innocent you. Oy vey!

Perhaps, sir, a nice long look in the mirror would do you some good. Maybe, just maybe you would discover that, in all likelihood, you with your clear sense of entitlement are responsible for her less than enthusiastic response to your presence. Respect begets respect, and from what you've displayed here, and regardless of what you claim, it's probably safe to say that this goes to the heart of the problem. "So what" if you berate this girl, just doing her job and earning a living, on a forum? It is tactless, tasteless, and wholly unnecessary, and shows much about your character.

Oh, and as for that free money... from your own words in post #1, I don't see where she was offering it to you. In fact you admit to being told it wasn't yours ("weren't mine") and then choosing to "argue" with her over it. Doesn't sound like they were "giving it away for free" after all now does it? Same with the 75 cents; it is funny how stories change when convenient. But it's okay... don't simply be pleased with a fantastic find and leave well enough alone. That whopping $15/mo certainly entitles you the right to fling all the poo you can; gotta get your money's worth, right?
