very cool lil' addition, Z-bro ... I like it!! My smallest is 5 mm x 8 mm Ionia Ephesos Tetartemorion
Very nice coin, Steve, and photographed so well. I like it. I have yet to work out the settings on my replacement camera after my Kodak P712 'died', but when I do I have a large number of these 'Greeks' to catalogue.
Hey Z-Bro ... I also have a couple of Ionia Teos examples ... => not quite as small, but just as cool ... Ionia, Teos, AR Drachm 375 BC Gryphon (incuse square) Ionia, Teos, AR Hemidrachm 300 BC Griffin & Kanthros
@Bing, Steve et al, Here is one of my Ionia, Teos coins. Gryphon / Kantharos Bronze 0,63 gm 9 mm (Not as nice as yours, Steve.)
I first started my ancient collection with fractions. Not only do I find these tiny coins fascinating, but they were (and still are) very affordable. My tiniest coin is 4mm in diameter and weighs only 0.16gm. IONIA, Miletos c. 520-480 BC Obv: Rosette on raised disc. Rx: Five pellets within incuse. Tetartemorion 0.16gm - 4mm
Very cool coin, acg => I have a similar Ionian example (but my example is from Erythrai) ... your lil' sweetie is even smaller than my example (congrats) IONIA, Erythrai. AR Hemiobol Circa 480-450 BC Diameter: 6 mm Weight: 0.29 grams Obverse: Rosette Reverse: Simpler rosette within incuse square
