2007 Cent plating issue

The Cent is 2.5 grams. Is this PMD, or did it fail to be correctly coated in copper?

The 1st photo was under full spectrum lighting, im trying for better photos.

 

Plating or not, the Reverse is beautiful.

 

Yes it is, that's what caught my eye.

 

Where do you find all your crazy looking Cents!
I have seen plating issues like your cent elsewhere but they were not determined to be Plating Error issues. PMD if it was tampered with such as heated with a flame or some kind of chemical poured on it.

heat would melt the zinc prior to messing with the copper. It does not seem to be dipped or influenced via chemicals. It is almost like the plating just ran out as this coin was going through the process.

Heat can change the color of the copper plating.

 

heading to garage with pencil torch, and a map gas torch to try to replicate this.

 

I can rule out heat, except for baking it in a potato. but chemicals could be the answer.
