I am considering sending this 2015 Kennedy Presidential dollar for grading. However, I am not an expert on grading and only want to send it if it likely graded PR70. Opinions are welcome. I scanned the obverse and reverse at 600 dpi. Thanks for looking!
You would likely do better just buying one already graded PR-70. There's really no way to grade a proof from an image especially the difference between 69 and 70.
I see multiple spots where the frost is missing on the reverse... like between the $1 and Liberty's arm. This means no 70. This is also on all 14 I have seen in person so far.
I think the hoax is paying big money for MS/PR 70 coins. Sure, I can get behind taking a coin and a x5 loupe and looking for any flaws and if no flaws/luster breaks are visible then why not? @mjones if you want one of these graded at 70 you'll be better off just buying one already graded.
I don't think you'll get a 70 grade. More than likely a 68. If you must have a MS-70 for this coin, but it.
No! It's just that it is very difficult to call a coin a 70 from an image. A perfect example is the coin below. These photos were taken while the coin was still in the OGP before being sent to NGC for grading. The flecks of cardboard dust on the coin can easily be mistaken for tiny nicks. Chris
