I don't know, but the visible moderator here (GDJMSP) has previously and inappropriately posted in a thread (titled "Just got the elusive 1916 Barber half....") that I have been breaking the law:

    That might explain some things.

Only that he's not completely cognizant of how the law reads. Nobody around here seems to realize that, given your high profile, the Secret Service would have already smashed you flat if they had the legal right.

Maybe you should read what I posted. You can be insulting but he can't? You can say that your kids have better manners than him and that's ok? I find that to be as insulting as you can get. If I ask my sons opinion, he would say that we are all wrong when we start insulting each other.

Back to the topic. I don't care for the coin and in my opinion it is ugly. I won't call it a toilet seat but it sure reminds me of one. The rules here say to trash the coin but not the member. I agree with that.

Mr.Carr knows how I feel about his work but I'll post it again.
I love most of his work but that stops when he makes something that looks just like a real coin but has a date that they were not made by the US Mint. That makes them a fake in my book and will fool people in the future into thinking they are real. Sure you can say that only a few will fall for it but does that really make it right. They should follow the law and say "COPY" somewhere on the coin.

You guys can call it whatever you like, but I still call it counterfeiting.

Maybe they are waiting for someone to make a complaint, hmmmm something to consider

Based on what? When is the last time that anybody has seen a 1965D Peace Dollar, or a 1909 Morgan Dollar? They are fantasies, much as movies are a fantasy of life. Just because they resemble the original design doesn't make them counterfeit. Now, if someone made their own 1884CC Morgan Dollar, and tried to sell it as genuine--that is clearly counterfeiting. There is an obvious difference; Daniel Carr's fantasy coins are not legal tender, and he states that explicitly. He is also appealing to collectors of tokens such as he produces, who are knowledgeable that a 1909 Morgan Dollar is a figment of one's imagination. His market isn't the same as the Chinese-produced fakes of legitimate legal tender, who attempt to pass off their work as genuine in the hope of deceiving the gullible.

There was a formal written complaint filed with the American Numismatic Association. The complainant was seeking to have me kicked out of the ANA for supposedly violating the ANA code of ethics by producing fantasy-date over-strike coins. I was asked to submit a written rebuttal. After reviewing all the facts, the ANA Board of Directors dismissed the complaint in its entirety. They did not even see the need to hold a hearing with the persons involved, which they usually do in such situations.

I figured that I would share another DC token from my collection, since you all enjoyed my last token so much.

Besides, you can't counterfeit something that never existed in the first place.

Make no mistake......I like Eddy. He's a friend and confidant, but I don't quite agree on his take in this thread. He's got 'big boy' pants though, and will withstand any kind of onslaught proposed against his character or nature......that's the bourbon talkin' folks. Carry on.........

I pee on them too when they deserve it. I don't discriminate.

BTW, you Devil, you like starting trouble back up, don't you? To wit, from Pg. 3... :)

Heck, keeps things interesting around these parts. And it's harmless......nobody gets hurt. Not unless you're ultra-sensitive.

    Calm down folks......
