I've been debating what to do with my mint sets. I have every year since 1960 and can't decide if I should continue buying, slicing'em up into albums, etc...

    Any ideas?

    Here's an unusual suggestion.

I like to display the different denominations separately. So I cut up sets to get nice examples of each coin but I also try to find sets with all nice coins and collect these as well. You'll probably end up needing to buy two or three of each set and looking at twenty or thirty of each but you can have really nice collections this way. You'll have a bunch of partial set and singles when you're done as well but usually these can be sold with little effort. A loty of these will be so cheap you can just spend them.

Here's what I do. I have been getting Mint Sets since the mid-fifties (I'm old), I get only one set to keep intact for my Mint/Proof Set collection and I get another set to break up for my album collection. It makes it easy to fill the holes each year in the albums. Over the years I have switched the kind of albums I have been using and now my whole collection is in Dansco albums. Most of them I've had to add an extra page to and I hand write the year/mint under the holes, looks kinda crappy but hard to keep up with current factory albums. Thanks, Douglas

Hmmm...both are interesting. I was thinking of buying two sets a year so both are viable options.

Is anyone using a an album for mint state sets? I know Dansco, Eagle, Gardmaster have albums does anyone use these? If so anyone have a photo as I'm curious what these look like as most websites only show you the outside of the album.

If you go Eagle's homepage (https://www.eaglecoinholders.com), right on the home page is a picture of an opened album for mint sets. If you follow the links, you can get a larger picture as well.

You will probably find your best price for these at sites other than Eagle itself.

Yep, I buy them in 3-4 sets, one for my daughter, one for my proof/ mint set collection, one to break apart and put into albums one for spare...

Being a network guy, I alaways try to have a spare/redundant one in case something happens to one...

I have been buying multi sets of proofs and mint set for years and have some that are still sealed in there mint boxes. I have thought maybe I should break some of them up. Just not sure which way to go with it

I'm in agreement with most views here so I'm changing my approach. I'll be buying multiple sets, using one set for individual albums and the extra set I'll start storing in a mint set album. As far as a mint set album I'll be going with an eagle album as dollar for dollar they are the cheapest in relation to the number of mint sets their albums can hold.

    Thanks everyone for weighing in
