Anyone see this yet? http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-OF-9-RAINBOW-TONED-MERCURY-DIMES-1916-to-1929-D_W0QQitemZ250110186985QQihZ015QQcategoryZ41091QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This can't be natural toning, can it? Looks almost like rust to me.
Could be natural... I've got some mercs that are like that, personally I call them dirty, not toned.. IMHO...
Looks fine to me, what you need to watch out for is those "natural" rainbow washington state quarters.
Looks like a smoker owned these coins. I've seen similar toning result from storage in a smoky environment...Mike
I would not sell or buy these as "toned". They are just average circulated merc dimes that are discolored or "crusty." They are not horrible, but they are not great.
those are ok, I would not dip. they get like that from those cardboard folders (not albums but folders without the slides). I have some like that and they are not AT.
